Our Story
In the heart of West Africa, Sierra Leone faces a paradox: abundant agricultural resources yet pervasive rural poverty. The cocoa sector, a key to combating this, struggles with low yields—averaging just 220-300 pounds per acre—due to aging trees, disease, market access and a lack of modern farming knowledge. This pales in comparison to Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire, highlighting a critical need for transformation.
Dadugba Cooperative, a pioneering group of over 2,000 farmers, is leading this change. Our mission is to empower members to cultivate high-quality, organic cocoa through sustainable and climate-smart practices. We're dedicated to boosting farmer livelihoods by improving productivity and market access, fostering a resilient agricultural community that prioritizes the well-being of its members and the environment.
Our vision is to be Sierra Leone's leading farmer-driven cooperative, recognized for ethical organic cocoa production, significantly improved farmer incomes, and a model of environmental stewardship. By empowering farmers to produce sustainable, ethical, and profitable cocoa, we aim to strengthen communities and contribute to national economic development. Dadugba Cooperative is committed to transforming Sierra Leone's agricultural landscape, fostering a more equitable and prosperous future for all. We're actively seeking partners who share our dedication to sustainable agriculture and fair trade to join us in this vital endeavor.
